Applied as a passive candidate. I was contacted shortly after I applied for a director role in emerging technologies. I noted that no salary range was listed (NYC requires this since 2022–red flag one). I inquired about this during the scheduling process and was told the salary is competitive—red flag two.
The inbound call didn’t come through correctly and I called back immediately and was sent to voicemail. I emailed the recruiter and received no response to either. I am a people manager who hires and these things happen. I couldn’t imagine not responding to a candidate (especially a highly qualified candidate for a niche tech role) if there’s an obvious technical issue and they are available within 3 minutes.

Not very organized, HR went silent after multiple rounds of interviews. I did one initial screening, then an online assessment, then an interview with a peer then a case study. After all these rounds, HR went silent for weeks until I got an automated workday message saying I was not selected.

Typcially 4-5 rounds of interviews - early interview with recruiter, then with a few peers/team members, written exercise then 1-2 informal conversations with partner-level team leads for the final rounds.
fully ghosted, never responded to any emails after. interview was very standard though, no surprises. why you wanna work here, what is your research experience, whats your goals, how do you deal with conflict
