This review is solely about the first telephone interview:
The interview was essentially a fast-paced walkthrough of my CV. For each of my previous jobs that I had listed I was asked to describe the position in detail. I was often asked to give examples and specify, especially when I made strong statements such as "experience X was great because it gave me a better understanding of Y".
Key takeaway: you better be prepared to back-up your personal sales pitch with memorized examples from your past experience.
In the end I was asked about Google's revenue composition (it's almost entirely from AdWords) and what I knew about Google's other projects.

Question 1
Definitely the clarifying questions! Fortunately I was well prepared, but you basically have zero time to search you memory. You need to have pre-composed answers, otherwise you'll come off as having oversold yourself in your CV.
