Interviewing for this position was very in-depth, but worth it. I rated the interview difficulty "average" because although a lengthy process, I wouldn't say the actual interviews were hard. I found my experience to be nothing but positive the entire time. HubSpot definitely recruits well; I had a lot of fun during the process which is probably a weird comment to make about interviews, but each time I learned a lot and grew more excited about the company. At all points in the interview process, the interviewers give time for you to ask questions which made it feel more like a conversation and less one-sided. The first round was a video interview with no one on the other end using the "Take The Interview" website. There were about 5 questions with 30 seconds to read the question and 1 minute to respond. It's meant to be an "interactive cover letter" - a faster way for them to get to know you. It wasn't as bad as it sounds as long as you are comfortable talking to a camera. The second round was a 30 minute phone conversation with the recruiter, Noah, who fielded my application from the beginning. It was a very typical conversation - why this position, why HubSpot, a few behavioral questions, etc. After the second round I received an e-mail from Noah telling me I'd be moving on to phone interviews with two different managers. I also had access to a trial version of the software. The conversation flowed very well; both managers were extremely kind and easy to talk to. I felt that they were genuinely interested in getting to know me. About a week later, I received an e-mail from Noah to set up a call with him regarding feedback. I found out that I'd be moving on to the final round of interviews at the HQ in Cambridge. During the final round, I first met with Noah who gave me a quick tour and told me what to expect for the interviews. There were three half-hour back-to-back interviews with managers and lastly a product expert. The first interview was mostly informational; she explained how positions are organized and the process for moving up. It was really informative and helpful. The next interview was with Google hangout and it was mostly talking about the role and questions regarding how I would deal with customers. Lastly was the product expert in which I showed him how I performed different tasks using the software and it ended with a role play where he was a customer and I was the support engineer. That's probably what I was least prepared for, but overall it wasn't too intimidating. After these interviews, I debriefed with Noah, and I then drove up to the Portsmouth office for an informal meeting with a Support Engineer to see where I'd be working. I received a call few days later from Noah in which I found out I didn't get the position. I'm definitely upset things didn't work out considering how much effort I put into the process, but even though I didn't get the position I appreciated the experience and meeting amazing people. Noah was very friendly and helpful the whole time. Hopefully this review helps someone else applying for the position, HubSpot seems like an incredible place to work.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review and for the insightful write-up. I love that you learned a lot through the process and still found it fun although it didn't end up resulting in a final offer--I'm not surprised at all to hear that given that you were working with Noah. He is one of those people that makes me incredibly proud to work at HubSpot, and given that he worked in support prior to recruiting, he really "gets" what you as a candidate are going through. Most importantly, given your great attitude and how far you got in the process, please do stay in touch--someone with an attitude like yours and commitment to learning would be a great asset here, so don't be a stranger. Sincerely, Katie

I had a 3-step interview process that consisted of a brief phone call followed by a zoom demo consisting (quick chat and mock customer support call) and finished it off with an on-site 2 hour interview with 3 managers. The whole process was quick and efficient with awesome hiring managers that were very communicative and responsive. I had an awesome experience and would recommend anyone on the job hunt to apply to HubSpot.

They were looking to hire quickly - so the process was expedited. Interviewed late one week, and was interviewing in-person in the middle of the next week. (I am not local, I drove 6+ hours to be there) They had me interview with a few different people. Most of them were very pleasant. (Especially Caroline Ostrander & Lauren DeSoiza. Lauren in particular was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.) One of them, a former Apple Store manager, was not. Ultimately, the day after the in-person interview I was informed via e-mail that I was not offered the job. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. In the e-mail, I was told that they would provide some feedback on my interview performance if I wanted it. I figured that might be useful so I obliged. I e-mailed my HR contact asking for interview feedback. No response. I waited 7 days, and e-mailed him again. He replied this time and apologized, stating that he was very busy and got caught up with some other things. Okay. He gave me a date and time when he would call me back the next day. No call. I e-mailed again. No response. I attempted to call him a few times and left a message. No response. And each time I called, his phone went directly to voicemail, no matter the time of day I was calling. Not entirely sure why they say they offer interview feedback if they are obviously not actually interested in providing it. That and Apple store manager guy really soured me on my experience.

      Question 1

They asked a lot about customer service experience naturally. Also had me do a demo exercise with their website. It's been a little while, so I don't remember many specific questions that were asked.

Be ware! Things will move along quickly and then all of a sudden come to a halt. They pride themselves on having a great company culture but overlook highly qualified candidates who possess a substantial education and willingness to learn. The process is thought to be great initially when you go through the interviews and they will move you along. If one of the managers doesn't care for your style of answering questions or is intimidated by you, good luck moving on and getting an offer from the last round. Very false facade of what they preach and actually represent.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm sorry that you felt that your interview experience wasn't consistent throughout. Our goal is to be incredibly thoughtful about the methods by which we evaluate candidates' fit for the role, including considering feedback from a cross-section of interviewers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Any decision made would be inclusive of the entire interview team, and includes a thorough debrief process. Regardless, I want to ensure our team is learning from candidates' experiences and will be sure you take your feedback back to the team. Thanks so much for investing the time to interview with us and best of luck in your next steps. Best, Becky
