Interviewed for a Director position. 2 hour self-funded travel to Sydney. Interview appeared to be going well and was requested to return for another partner interview the same day. Despite following up with the lead partner, a few times - eventually got HR designate 3 weeks later that generically state that "lack of Australian experience" resulted in the decline. It appeared to be a strange motivation as this weak "Australian" excuse was exactly discussed in the second interview and considered as absurd by the partner. Quite shocking that big 4 firm treats senior applicants in this way.
