Seemed to go smoothly at first. Had 5 interviews, with Heads-of, VPs, and SVPs. Lots of explicit interest, lots of explicit discussions with recruiting about an offer letter being drafted up. Then, some unexpected twists and turns, like at the finish line learning that "the hiring manager would like to chat just one more time to make sure you truly understand what the roles and responsibilities are" and then eventually receiving a 2-sentence email (after allllll of that interest and all of those conversations) telling me that while I'm perfect for the role they're pausing the process and wish me luck.
