      Entretien

Summary: --Pros-- * The recruiters. * Salary transparency. * Writing test. --Cons-- The interview. This was one of the worst interviewing experiences of my career. Based on the interview questions, I clearly didn't have the background they were looking for, leaving me to wonder why I was invited to interview for the position. Details: I do not have banking experience, but I felt given my background and skills I was capable of performing the duties of the job, so I completed an application on the company website. About a week later I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone screen. During the phone screen the recruiter was very cordial and gave me more information about the position, including the salary range. I really appreciated the salary transparency. She asked me some preliminary questions about my experience and then said she wanted to advance me to the next step, which was to complete a writing test. I really enjoyed the writing test because it gave me a good idea of the type and scope of documentation that I would be writing if hired. I completed the writing test and a couple days later I received an automated email message saying the next step was to participate in an interview. I received a separate email with a Teams invite. There were two interviewers who had 4 prepared questions. Two of the questions were fairly generic. The remaining two questions were very specific situational questions that I thought could only be answered by someone with banking experience in the role for which they were hiring or a closely related role. They were looking for specific/concrete examples in the responses to their questions. One of the interviewers seemed to become frustrated with me for not providing concrete examples. But I didn't have them because I don't have industry experience. At one point I seriously thought about disconnecting from the interview as if I had lost my internet connection. It was that bad. My background, experience, and writing test showed that I could do the job. And somewhere behind the scenes one or more people there thought the same and decided I should interview. But if they looked at my application and resume alongside the interview questions, they would have seen the mismatch immediately. A couple days later the recruiter called me to say that I was not moving forward in the process. That was not a surpirse to me. I really appreciated the personal phone call to let me know, as opposed to receiving a computer generated email message or, worse yet, being ghosted. Despite my inability to answer several of the questions, I'm rating the interview difficulity as Average. I think if you had industry experience, particularly in the specialty area for which they were hiring, it would have been average. I've blocked out/blacked out on the interview questions they asked, except the one below.

Recruiter screen is very easy. Final round interview was with hiring manager and two peers. This round was all behavioral questions. Was given a date for when I would hear back if there was an offer. Following up after that date with the hiring manager resulted in the hiring manager trying to set up a time to contact me by phone, but it didn't work out.
